Letter to the Editor - This hot weather got me thinking, Dave Jackson Icotherm

Dear Ian,

All this hot weather has got me thinking. How many conservatories across the UK have been left unusable by this heatwave because of inefficient glazed or polycarbonate roofs?

Over the last few weeks, I’m sure lots of homeowners have been frustrated by the greenhouse effect in their conservatories, making them completely redundant. In some cases, it will have even led to the rest of the house being warmer too – definitely not what you want when you’re trying to get to sleep!

Homeowners are fed up of their old, useless conservatories and they’re definitely reminded of it when the weather’s hot, which gives installers a massive opportunity. This is the time for installation companies to strike and tell them all about how they can refurbish conservatories to transform them into rooms that are comfortable enough to use all year round.

One of the best ways to do that is with a lightweight solid roof. It’s an easy, cost-effective way for homeowners to turn that hot and sticky conservatory into a cool room where they can escape from the sun on the hottest days.

Icotherm Solid Roof is a fully insulated system with cross-ventilation that eliminates the risk of condensation. It’s quick and easy to install and it’s simple to get building control as it’s a pre-approved system. It can be fitted with tools found in any window installer’s tool box.

The recent hot weather means there’s no better time for installers to start talking to homeowners and booking in refurbishments over the summer, whilst they remember how uncomfortable their conservatories were in the heat.

Yours sincerely,

Dave Jackson
